Double Corona

The size

Double coronas run 7.5 to 8.5 inches with a 49 to 52 ring gauge. Cuban factories call the size prominente, and the Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona, at 7.625 x 49, is one of the most famous Cuban cigars.

Why smoke one

It's a cigar for a long evening, and it can easily run past an hour.

The length gives the smoke a long path to cool before it reaches you. At 49 ring or more, filler and binder shape most of the flavor, and there's a lot of tobacco between the foot and the band.
