Italy has a cigar tradition of its own, and it looks nothing like a Caribbean cigar. The Toscano is a slim, tapered, rustic cigar made from dark, fire-cured tobacco that's fermented until it takes on a smoky, savory character.

Where it grows

The tobacco is a Kentucky variety grown mostly in Campania and Tuscany, then cured over wood fires. Manifatture Sigaro Toscano makes the cigars, with factories in Lucca and Cava de' Tirreni.

The style

Smoky and savory, and stronger than it looks. Italians often cut a Toscano in half and smoke one half at a time.
